Uninstalling AI Boost
The short version
Uninstalling AI Boost removes the extension's files. It does not delete your work. Your settings, translations, redirect rules and 404 log stay in the database, the values you typed into AI Boost's fields on articles and users are kept, and your licence and Pro activation unlock again as soon as you reinstall.
Removing AI Boost does stop its output: structured data, the sitemap, social tags, canonical links, robots.txt management, llms.txt and analytics injection all stop being produced from that moment.
What is kept
| What | Kept on uninstall? |
|---|---|
| Every setting you configured | Yes |
| Your translations | Yes |
| Redirect rules and the 404 log | Yes |
| Values typed into AI Boost's fields on articles | Yes |
| Values typed into AI Boost's fields on user profiles | Yes |
| Your licence key and Pro activation | Yes — it unlocks again on reinstall |
What changes on the editing forms
AI Boost adds a few of its own fields to the article editor and to user profiles — for example a per-article social image or title. On uninstall those fields are hidden, not deleted: AI Boost switches them (and the tab they sit in) to unpublished, so your editors get a clean form with no leftovers from an extension that is gone.
Everything anyone ever typed into them stays exactly where it is. Nothing is emptied and nothing is thrown away.
Fields you created yourself are never touched, whatever state they are in. AI Boost only ever hides the fields it installed itself.
If you reinstall
Reinstalling brings it all back:
- The fields and their tab become visible again — precisely the ones AI Boost hid, and nothing else. If you deliberately unpublished one of them before uninstalling, it stays unpublished; your choice is not overruled.
- Your settings, translations and redirects are already there, so the plugin picks up where it left off.
- Your licence and Pro activation unlock again.
You do not need to re-enter anything, and you do not need to reconfigure your site.
If you want the data gone as well
Because nothing is deleted, uninstalling is not the way to erase AI Boost's data. If you genuinely want it removed — for example before handing a site over — do that deliberately:
- delete the AI Boost fields (and their field groups) in Content → Fields and Users → Fields after uninstalling, which also removes the values stored in them;
- drop the AI Boost tables from the database if your host gives you database access.
Both are irreversible, so take a backup first.
Before you uninstall
- Take a full site backup, including the database.
- Export your settings from AI Boost first if you might come back — the import/export screen writes a single file you can restore into a fresh install.
- Check what else owned your robots.txt. If AI Boost was managing it and another extension was standing aside, take a copy of the rules you want to keep.
- Remember your sitemap will stop. If you submitted
/sitemap.xmlto a search console, arrange a replacement before removing AI Boost.
