About the plugin
AI Boost for Joomla is an all-in-one SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) system plugin for Joomla 5 and 6. From a single admin component it emits the structured data, sitemap, social tags and AI-search signals that search engines and AI assistants read: Schema.org JSON-LD, an XML sitemap, OpenGraph and Twitter/X cards, a managed robots.txt, and llms.txt. No coding is required for normal use.
Most SEO extensions stop at the traditional Google layer — meta tags, redirects and a basic sitemap. AI Boost also writes the signals the AI-search era depends on: Schema.org across 36 site types, automatic FAQ detection, llms.txt, IndexNow and a robots.txt with per-bot rules for 17 AI crawlers. It publishes structured, machine-readable signals instead of leaving search engines and assistants to guess your content from the page.
Joomla 5 and 6. AI Boost is built for the current Joomla generation and is designed to stay compatible as new major versions ship. Joomla 4 is not supported.
PHP 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 are all supported, with 8.1 as the minimum. PHP 8.3 or newer is recommended.
Yes. AI Boost is a system plugin, so it works independently of your template and adds its output before the template renders. It has been tested with Cassiopeia (the Joomla default), YOOtheme Pro, Helix and other standards-compliant Joomla templates. A dedicated YOOtheme add-on maps schema, FAQ and gallery markup straight out of YOOtheme Pro templates.
Installation & setup
Download the pkg_aiboost package from your account at aiboostnow.com/account. In your Joomla administrator, go to System, then Install, then Extensions, open the Upload Package File tab and upload the ZIP. Next go to System, then Manage, then Plugins, search for "AI Boost" and enable it. Then open the AI Boost component to configure it.
The usual causes are a PHP version below 8.1, a low upload-size limit on your host, or file permissions on the Joomla plugins folder. If the Extension Manager shows an error message, send it to [email protected] and we will help you resolve it.
Yes. AI Boost runs on localhost and staging environments. On a staging or development copy, switch on "Disable all AI Boost output" on the Output Conflicts screen: AI Boost then stops publishing structured data, OpenGraph tags, the sitemap and llms.txt from that site altogether, so the copy cannot compete with your live site. Switch it back off when the site goes live.
The output it produces — Schema.org JSON-LD, the sitemap, robots.txt and llms.txt — is generated server-side and cached, so it adds little to page-render time. AI Boost loads no third-party frontend scripts except the analytics tags you choose to enable, such as GA4, Google Tag Manager or Meta Pixel.
Features
Yes. Schema.org is a shared vocabulary — Organisation, LocalBusiness, Hotel, Article, FAQPage, Event and more — that helps search engines and AI assistants understand your content. AI Boost generates JSON-LD automatically and adds it to each page. You pick your site type from 36 Schema.org types, fill in your organisation details, and the correct markup is emitted as one clean entity graph — no coding.
No. A dynamic XML sitemap is built in, served at yoursite.com/sitemap.xml and covering published articles, categories and menu items. It updates as you publish or change content, and it splits into a sitemap index automatically once your site passes 2,000 URLs. Image entries, Google News, tag URLs, per-type priorities and category or menu exclusions are included as well; hreflang alternates come with the Multilang add-on.
llms.txt is a plain-text file, served at yoursite.com/llms.txt, that describes your site's structure and key pages in a format AI assistants can read. It comes with the Markdown page endpoints and the full-site index, /llms-full.txt. It is an emerging convention for AI agents, not a ranking signal — Google has stated it does not use llms.txt, and no other engine has published a commitment to read it either way.
IndexNow lets participating engines — Bing, Yandex, Seznam and others; Google does not take part — know the moment you publish or update a page. On the AI Discovery screen you enable IndexNow and generate an API key; AI Boost serves the key file and submits your URLs automatically when you save an article, so pages can be picked up without waiting for the next crawl. It is included in every plan.
Yes. AI Boost reads Joomla's Custom Fields, so you can set a per-article OpenGraph image, title or description that takes precedence over the global defaults — useful when a specific link should look a particular way when it is shared. Where an article has no override, the global defaults apply and AI Boost falls back to the article's own image if it has one.
Yes. AI Boost works with Joomla's native multilingual system and with Falang. With the Multilang add-on it translates the signals themselves — per-language Schema.org and OpenGraph values, plus hreflang alternates in the head and the sitemap — rather than stopping at the interface language.
AI Boost produces a managed robots.txt with per-bot rules for 17 AI crawlers, including GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and Applebot-Extended, plus one-click blocking of 11 SEO scrapers such as AhrefsBot and SemrushBot. You decide which bots to allow or block, and you can add your own custom rules.
Pricing & licensing
There are three Pro plans — AI Boost PRO, PRO+ and Unlimited. Every Pro plan includes every Pro feature; they differ only in how many sites you can activate a licence on at once. See the pricing page for the current figures.
Yes — Pro plans are billed yearly. Your subscription pays for a year of updates, email support and compatibility with future Joomla, PHP and third-party releases. See the pricing page for the current figures.
Nothing switches off. Once your licence key has been verified on a site, its Pro features stay enabled on that installation, and they survive a reinstall of the same site — this is what we mean by perpetual activation. Lapsing pauses updates, support, and compatibility with future Joomla, PHP and third-party releases; renew any time to switch those back on.
A licence can be active on up to its plan's number of sites at the same time. Need to move a licence to a different site? Email [email protected] and we'll free the slot for you.
Not at the moment. AI Boost is sold as one product: every plan carries the complete feature set, and the plans differ only in how many sites you activate. If you want to see it before committing, the 14-day money-back guarantee on a new purchase is there for exactly that; the Refund and Cancellation Policy at aiboostnow.com/refunds has the terms.
Once you order a Pro plan, your licence key arrives by email. You can also sign in to the customer portal at aiboostnow.com/account, where your licence keys and downloads are listed; if you cannot get in, email [email protected] from your purchase address.
Technical
In Joomla's standard database tables as JSON parameters — the same mechanism Joomla uses for every extension. Your settings are preserved across updates and are included in a normal Joomla database backup.
Uninstalling through Joomla's Extension Manager removes AI Boost's files, but it does not delete your work. Your settings, translations, redirect rules and 404 log stay in the database, the values you typed into AI Boost's fields on articles and users are kept, and your licence and Pro activation unlock again as soon as you reinstall. AI Boost's own output — structured data, the sitemap, social tags, llms.txt — stops from that moment. See the uninstall guide for the full picture, including how to remove the data deliberately if that is what you want.
AI Boost does not expose its own public REST API; it works through Joomla's native event system internally. If you need to trigger something like an IndexNow submission from an external pipeline, contact [email protected] to discuss your use case.
AI Boost for Joomla ships as a standard Joomla installation package of PHP files and assets. The licence terms that apply to it are set out in the End User Licence Agreement; for customisation or integration questions, write to [email protected].
